Hillel at UMass is home to over 20 different student-led groups. Hillel offers social, cultural, educational and religious programming to Jewish students, both on and off campus. Special features for students at UMass/Amherst include: -University-accredited courses on exciting Jewish issues that are offered by and available at Hillel, as well as a Beit Midrash for traditional study. -A warm and welcoming Grinspoon Hillel House that is close to campus. It includes the Dr. Max Goldberg Jewish Living and Learning Community, a residence for up to 26 Jewish students. -Free catered Friday night dinners and student-prepared Shabbat lunches at Hillel -Strong cultural prograrmming including Kolot (Voices), Hillel`s celebrated a cappella group, a Beit Cafe (coffeehouse), and a variety of performance throughout the year -A talented and diverse staff, including an Israel Fellow, two rabbis: one liberal, one orthodox, and full-time engagement staff to reach out to students all across campus -Close cooperation with Hillel students and staff at neighboring campuses of Smith, Amherst, Mt. Holyoke and Hampshire Colleges -As a Tzedek Hillel, we co-sponsor community service programs during school breaks to New Orleans, Uruguay, and Israel - As part of CJP`s (Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Boston) IACT Initiative, UMass takes nearly 100 students as a group to Israel yearly on Taglit-Birthright Israel -UMass/Amherst is an award winning Hillel. We are the only six-time winner of International Hillel`s Haber Award for "programs of quality for the Jewish campus community." In, 2007, UMass/Hillel won International Hillel`s first Vision and Values Award for excellence in development. Jewish students come to UMass from a wide variety of backgrounds. The campus is a wonderful setting to explore and enhance one`s Jewish connection and identity. As a graduating senior, I know I will appreciate the many Jewish connections I`ve made here."
