Jewish Citizenship in a Global World
Date:December 25, 2007 - January 3, 2008
Description:
In honor of Israel’s 60th birthday and in a move to break the mold of our typical leadership development, Hillel’s Charles Schusterman International Student Leaders Assembly took place in Israel in 2008. The theme of the trip was Jewish Citizenship in a Global World. Throughout the program students considered the nature of Jewish communal responsibility, while being challenged and inspired to consider how they wanted to enact their Jewish identities as leaders in their own communities.
Students from campuses around the world created a pluralistic and diverse community that celebrated and reflected together on the character of Jewish life worldwide. Ultimately, the goal was to inspire and challenge participants to act both as leaders in their campus Jewish communities and as socially responsible global Jewish citizens.
