Top 10 Tips for a Successful PSC
Never been to PSC or not sure you’ve gotten the most out of prior conferences?

Here are Ten Tips to help you prepare, pack and participate to the fullest.

  1. Set some goals for what you hope to get out of the conference.

  2. Review the schedule ahead of time and determine which events will most help you to meet your goals. (The full schedule will be released one week prior to the conference.)

  3. Make meetings. Think about whether there is anyone you want to meet with during the conference (a colleague who you admire, someone who is doing a program you want to bring your campus). Connect with them in advance of the conference and let them know you want to meet. Some people arrive at the conference with a schedule of meetings already in place! Meals are a great time to meet with colleagues.

  4. Are you hiring new staff or thinking about your next professional step? Register to participate in Candidate’s Day.

  5. Dress for the conference is business casual. Pack something festive to wear for the banquet (think bar mitzvah) and bring a warm coat for the D.C. Monuments Tour.

  6. Take some time each day to take care of yourself – go to the hotel gym or pool, take a walk to get some fresh air.

  7. Try something new – attend morning yoga, a prayer service, a workshop on a topic that you normally wouldn’t attend.

  8. Bring materials to share with colleagues (marketing materials, extra t-shirts and give away items, development brochures). There will be a place to display it all.

  9. Bring plenty of your business cards.

  10. Get lots of sleep before you come, bring your appetite and have fun!!
