Ben-Gurion University of the Negev Overseas Student Program |
Mission Statement:
Ben-Gurion University of Negev is located in Beer Sheva- the capital of the desert. The Overseas Student Program combines coursework with experiential learning and offers students the opportunity to immerse themselves in Israeli culture and society. The program is small in size and large in scope encouraging students to take full advantage of their environment. Due to the nature of the program, BGU works with each of the students to facilitate their individual needs. Students are encouraged to conduct individualized research projects with BGU faculty, to take internships in their chosen field and to become involved in community-service related projects – such as volunteering with the new immigrants from the Former Soviet Union, Ethiopia, and the local Bedouin communities. BGU offers Hillel Leadership Scholars the opportunity to truly understand Israeli society from within. Students will live in the on-campus dormitories with Israelis, which helps them to foster lasting friendships as well as improve their language skills. The program has developed a strong reputation for its exciting and diverse activities and trips that students participate in while on the program, including spending time on a kibbutz, participating in an archaeological dig, touring and hiking around the country, as well as a slew of other extra-curricular activities. The BGU Overseas Student Program offers international students the opportunity to experience Israel from an Israeli perspective, learning and
