Mission Statement:
Break Away: the Alternative Break Connection serves as a resource for information on alternative breaks. Their mission is to promote service on the local, regional, national and international levels through break-oriented programs which immerse students in often vastly different cultures, heighten social awareness, and advocate lifelong social action. An alternative break places teams of students in communities to engage in direct service and experiential learning during their school vacations. Break Away offers several how-to manuals as well as interactive training and technical assistance to groups interested in starting or strengthening alternative break programs. Break Away also connects volunteer groups with community organizations through their online SiteBank, a database of national and international break opportunities.
