Hasha`ar |
Mission Statement:
HaSha’ar is a program of Jewish studies and professional development for future Jewish day school educators. The goal of HaSha’ar is to transform Jewish day school education in North America through the development of talented, knowledgeable, committed and reflective educators. HaSha’ar encourages promising young women and men who are devoted to Jewish learning to pursue professional careers in Jewish education. HaSha’ar fellows prepare for careers as Jewish day school educators through an intensive year-long program, integrating Jewish text-study, seminars in the ideas and practice of education, and guided observation in a variety of Jewish day schools. During the year of study fellows receive fully subsidized tuition plus a generous living stipend. Fellows then teach Jewish Studies full-time in a day school for two years, while continuing to receive professional support from the HaSha’ar faculty. HaSha’ar is co-sponsored by Drisha Institute for Jewish Education and the Beit Rabban Center for Research in Jewish Education.
