Jewish Theological Seminary: Rabbinical School |
Mission Statement:
Founded in 1886, The Jewish Theological Seminary of America is the academic and spiritual center of the Conservative Movement in Judaism. Its NYC campus houses the College of Jewish Studies, the Graduate School, the Rabbinic School, and the Cantors Institute/Seminary College of Jewish Music. Jerusalem is site of The Morris and Nellie L. Kawaler Year in Israel Program and other JTS extension programs. The Seminary student body exceeds 550; the faculty includes some 100 full-time and part-time scholars. The Rabbinical School offers a five-year program leading to rabbinic ordination with preparatory and pre-rabbinic programs. Students may find housing in one of two Seminary dormitories. A rich religious life revolved around daily service in two on-campus synagogues, Shabbat and Festival celebrations, and extra-curricular study. Social and cultural programs are organized by an active Office of Student Life.
