Mission Statement:
One of the National Havurah Committee’s primary functions has been to organize and sponsor Summer Institutes, which are weeklong gatherings for study, prayer, and idea and resource exchange among havurah members. NHC also organizes regional retreats in New England, the Mid-Atlantic region, and the Chesapeake Region; publishes a newsletter, Havurah, which is devoted to ritual, tradition, and culture from a havurah perspective; and maintains a directory of havurot throughout the country and a Teacher’s Bureau to send havurah teachers to communities with few Jewish resources.
