OTZMA |
Mission Statement:
OTZMA is a service-based leadership development program offering young adults ages 20-26 the unique opportunity to contribute and acquire an in-depth understanding of Israel and the Jewish people. Participants gain an "insider's" perspective while working and learning in three consecutive and distinct tracks, including immigrant absorption, areas of urban renewal, social service work experiences and kibbutz. Throughout the ten months (August - June) they move from place to place, interacting with people of diverse backgrounds throughout the country. The three tracks are woven together by an educational program where participants delve deeply into both the history and contemporary life of Israel and the Jewish people. Beginning fall of 2004, Hillel will offer a special track within Otzma with professional training and special workshops for those who are interested in learning skills to help pursue a career with Hillel after the Otzma experience. This track will give participants training and opportunities within the Hillel community and may include staffing a Hillel israel trip, working with Hillel students studying in Israel and Shabbatot with Hillel staff in Israel.
