Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies |
Mission Statement:
Pardes is a coed, non-denominational institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem that offers a unique combination of intellectual openness, rigorous textual analysis, and opportunities for spiritual growth. Whether through understanding a Talmudic argument, chanting from the Torah for the first time, or helping to feed Jerusalem's poor, Pardes students are challenged to grow as individuals, as members of our community, and of humanity as a whole. Through havruta study (partner learning) under the guidance of dynamic teachers, Pardes aims to provide skills for in-depth Jewish learning, encourages students to grapple with the relevance of ancient texts and the modern world, and increases students' knowledge of their Jewish heritage. Our students span the spectrum of Jewish life, ranging from unaffiliated Jews with little or no previous Jewish education, to graduates of Jewish day schools and yeshivot. The diversity of our students, along with the deep sense of community that develops amongst them, contributes to the richness of the learning experience at Pardes. We offer a variety of programs including our Year/Semester Program, Summer Program, and Masters in Jewish Education Program.
