Mission Statement:
YIVO is the major resource for study of East European and American Jewish culture, with more than 22 million items in 750 archival collections and a 330,000 volume multilingual library. Graduate studies are available at the Max Weinreich Center; several fellowships for postgraduate research are available. Six-week summer intensive language program is offered through the Uriel Weinreich Program in Yiddish Language, Literature, and Culture. The center does not offer certificates or degrees. Credits from courses are transferrable under a formal course exchange program with major universities in the New York area.
