How much does talkspace: Israel cost?

Program expenses depend on how decide to structure the program.  The only essentials are a space to meet and a group of participants.  You may choose to spend money on publicity as you recruit for the program.  It is also helpful to offer extra perks as a benefit of participations; these can range from snacks or a meal at each gathering all the way to monetary stipends paid out upon completion of the program.

We will also grant up to $5,000 to a select number of campuses that choose to implement talkspace: Israel using a model requiring significant funding.  The following requirements apply for this funding:

  • Your team working on talkspace: Israel must include a strong and committed student coordinator with a demonstrated knowledge of Israel who will be the official grant applicant.  This student must meet all of the application and reporting criteria associated with the grant.
  • Your grant proposal must includes plans for developing and implementing a meaningful, substantive culminating project that enables participants to leverage their talkspace: Israel experience to influence campus Israel culture and share what they have learned with the broader community.
  • You must demonstrate a commitment of support from one or more members of your school’s faculty or staff.
  • We ask that you describe in your grant application the credentials of your staff facilitator, regarding both Israel knowledge and facilitation experience.
  • Staff facilitators and student coordinators must participate in regular training conference calls.
  • You must secure a third-party evaluator who is not directly involved in implementing talkspace: Israel to complete mid-point and final reports about the program.
  • The student coordinator must complete evaluation reports regularly over the course of the program.
  • You should define metrics that you will be able to use to demonstrate changes in campus Israel culture and individual Jewish identity development as a result of talkspace: Israel.
  • No more than 25% of the money you request can be spent on food.
  • We encourage applicants to use talkspace: Israel as a tool for post-trip follow-through with alumni of Taglit – birthright israel.

These grants are administered by Hillel, but they flow through the Israel on Campus Coalition’s Israel Advocacy Grant pool.  Apply online.  Available funding is limited at this time, but we are still accepting applications and will allocate whatever we have available.

If you choose to participate in talkspace: Israel without applying for funding, contact Robin Weber (rweber@hillel.org, (202) 449-6591), preferably a minimum of three weeks before you hope to begin the program, to sign up, discuss your plans, and obtain the curriculum.
