Many Jewish communities mark the 29 days leading up to Rosh Hashanah, the Hebrew month of Elul, by sounding the shofar (ram’s horn). We also prepare ourselves spiritually, focusing on who we have been in the year that is ending, and how we might behave in the year to come. In this spirit, Hillel International presents Shevarim: Elul Blasts. Each day, you’ll receive a prompt to focus on a particular middah - a virtue or way of being in the world - along with a prompt for reflection and a related spiritual practice. Just as the three shofar blasts of shevarim awaken us to teshuva (return/repentance), these daily blasts will inspire you as you prepare for this new Jewish and academic year.
