Alternative Break in Israel: Reflections
"I wanted to thank Hillel and the sponsors so much for Alternative Break in Israel. I learned so much about Israel, my peers, Hillel, Judaism, leadership and myself. This experience was so fulfilling and I plan to use the skills and knowledge that I gained on this trip to outreach to my own Hillel and community and in future service initiatives." --Participant, sophomore, CUNY Hunter College

"I had a long talk with my student about her experience, which she chalks up as one of the best in her life so far. We’re thrilled that she could be a part of the Alternative Break in Israel and really feel like she gained so much to bring back to the community." --Hillel professional, University at Albany

"After my first touring trip, I wanted to do more than look at Israel. I wanted to act, to do. This was the perfect opportunity... I am bringing back so much that I didn’t know about myself."--Participant, junior, the University of North Dakota

"I want to thank you [the students in Tel Aviv] warmly for your amazing work and help for the refugees in our shelters... We believe that everybody has a right to a decent and safe accommodation and you contributed to further that right. And even more importantly, you spent time with a very neglected and vulnerable group in society and you showed that you care about them. " --Coordinator, African Refugee Development Center in Tel Aviv

"The most memorable part was the people I met. It was not only that they came from all over the world, but it was that they were all dedicated, hardworking and passionate about Israel and social justice... Hillel’s Alternative Break in Israel provided me with a renewed sense of faith in the ability of a small group of committed people. The people I met showed me change is possible, no matter where or when." -- Participant, sophomore, Dalhousie College
