BREAK NEW GROUND

Join the community of Hillel students who have explored Israel through the lens of Tikkun Olam, repairing the world. This one-week experience focuses on intense hands-on service, community interaction and the exploration of social justice and Judaism in the land of Israel.
This year, 42 undergraduate students from New York will have the opportunity to participate in Hillel's Alternative Break in Israel: Break New Ground. Students must be prepared to fully participate in intense days of hands-on service, be open to experiential learning as a means to increase knowledge about socio-economic and social justice issues in Israel, be receptive to returning to campus as active citizens, engaging in the local Jewish and non-Jewish community, and exploring social justice as a Jewish value.
Participants will have the unique experience of volunteering with immigrants and foreign workers in Israel who tend to be underserved by most welfare and volunteer organizations. Each day, students will volunteer, explore a new aspect of Israeli society, interact with the Israeli community, and delve into challenging issues with new friends.
