Hillel/City Year ASB 2010

Student reads Jewish text on an Alternative Break Trip.Hillel/City Year Alternative Break 2010: Serving to Make a Difference

Join 50 other service-minded students around the country in one of 3 locations – Los Angeles, New York, or Miami.  This trip is a partnership between Hillel and City Year and will provide an opportunity to stretch beyond the everyday by coming together through hands-on service, team building and the exploration of social justice and Judaism.

Days will be spent doing volunteer work which may include, but is not limited to, building, painting, tutoring children and serving meals. Participants should be prepared for intense days of hands-on service and be open to experiential learning as a means to increase knowledge about socio-economic and social justice issues.

Following a communal dinner, activities will be planned, and may include campus discussions, speakers, and other options. The trip will also include a restful Shabbat.

You can also read about last year's Hillel/City Year pilot program with Alpha Epsilon Pi brothers.

Participating Campuses:
Students may only apply for this trip if their campus has been accepted to this trip.  Each break week is assigned a specific city and students will not be able to apply for any other location.

Please check this list to see if your campus is participating.
