Hillel's Argentina Alternative Break

Participants will help rebuild the social net of Jewish institutions that have been devastated by Argentina’s economic collapse, while rebuilding and helping synagogues and Jewish schools that are in need of additional resources.  Participants will have an opportunity to become acquainted with the Jewish community of Buenos Aires through interaction with community leaders and students.  American students will have an opportunity to develop friendships with Argentinean peers including Hillel Argentina members, students and graduates between 18 and 30 years old.  Lastly, participants will engage in Jewish learning sessions to explore the relationship between social justice work and Tikkun Olam, repair of the world.

Participating Hillels are expected to send one to two Hillel professionals, depending on the size of the group. These Hillel professionals are also responsable for leading discussions and reflection (curriculum provided by SIC).

Program Dates: Any period between February 12 and December 19, 2012. Minimum 7 days.

Cost: $900 per person (students and staff). Fees subject to change due to fluctuation in value of dollar. Campuses will be notified October 2011 of any change in fees.

Transportation: Campus is responsible for all U.S. ground transportation and all air travel.

Location: Argentina - Buenos Aires and/or Cordoba City
