Project MOSES Honors Terror Victims

In a ceremony in Montreal, Hillel students, lay leaders and professionals joined together to put the finishing touches on a Torah scroll that will be donated to Hillel at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in memory of those who lost their lives in the 2002 terrorist bombing at the school. The event marked the last North American step of Project M.O.S.E.S, the two-year initiative of Hillel Montreal to donate the Torah. The completed scroll will be officially dedicated at the Hillel center at the Hebrew University on June 7, 2004.

Through the sale of letters and chapters in the Torah, Hillel Montreal raised enough funds to create the scroll as well as $5,000 in additional funds for Mishpacha Achat (One Family), an organization that assists Israeli victims of terror.

The culmination ceremony in Montreal featured Torah scribe Jamie Shear completing some of the final letters of the Torah. Guests also had the final opportunity to purchase letters in the Torah as well, with all funds directly assisting Mishpacha Achat.
