Israeli Diplomat Hosts Hillel in Manhattan

Israeli Acting Consul General in New York Ido Aharoni recently hosted Hillel students and volunteers from the New York City area at his official residence in Manhattan. Aharoni and Hillel President Wayne L. Firestone discussed "Israel: The Next Generation on Campus."

Guests at the standing-room-only event included members of local Hillel boards, the Hillel Board of Directors and Hillel's International Board of Governors.

Aharoni has served the Israeli government in the Foreign Service since 1991. He previously was policy assistant to Israel's chief negotiator with the Palestinians, policy advisor to the Foreign Ministry Director-General, consul for communications and public affairs in Los Angeles, consul for media and public affairs in New York, and senior advisor to Israel's foreign minister and vice prime minister. In September 2007, Aharoni was appointed to serve as the head of Israel's Brand Management Team in Jerusalem. Aharoni holds degrees from Tel Aviv University and Emerson College. He and wife Julie Goodman-Aharoni, a native of Los Angeles, have three children.
