An Update from Israel

I just returned this morning from Israel where I attended the inaugural Genesis Prize award ceremony. It was an exciting and inspiring event that drew leaders from all over the Jewish world. I was especially proud to hear Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu mention Hillel’s “vital” work in his opening remarks.

While I was in Jerusalem, I kept up with the Facebook posts and emails from excited Hillel students arriving on Taglit-Birthright Israel trips from all over the country and the world.

We had 17 buses of Hillel students on the ground yesterday and five more arrived today. We will have 22 buses in 17 different places all over Israel for Shabbat. More than 40 Hillel professionals are experiencing Israel with their students right now! This is the biggest summer yet for Hillel-led Taglit-Birthright Israel trips, with more than 4,000 students visiting from North America and CASE (Central Asia Southern Europe).

With the Pope set to arrive on Sunday along with thousands of followers, Israel is full of excitement.

Shabbat Shalom,
