Internationally renowned Israeli journalist and author Ari Shavit continues his major speaking tour on American college campuses this month that will take him to 28 campuses this semester.

The tour is sponsored by Hillel International. Shavit began the second semester of his tour with visits to Princeton University and Tufts University and will next visit Cornell University and Pennsylvania State University.

“When Ari visits a campus students get a chance to hear from a leading thinker and writer who has his finger on the pulse of the Israeli people and the ear of the Israeli leadership,” said Hillel International President and CEO Eric Fingerhut. “On the first leg of his tour Ari got campus communities thinking about Israel in new ways. Now he can engage thousands of additional students and academics.”

Shavit began his Hillel-sponsored speaking tour in the fall with visits to Brown University, Yale University and the University of California at Santa Barbara.

“Israel is an extraordinary country, and it is also a complex one,” said Shavit. “I am returning to talk to students across America about my country’s history, its people, its challenges and its successes. I hope to introduce a more nuanced understanding of Israel and inspire students to ask important questions about the future of the Middle East.”

Shavit is a senior correspondent for the Israeli paper Haaretz and a member of its editorial board. He is the best-selling author of the 2013 book, “My Promised Land: The Triumph and Tragedy of Israel.”

Shavit visited Princeton on January 20th and Tufts on the 21st.  He will speak at Cornell on the 22nd and Pennsylvania State on January 23rd. His speaking schedule also includes Columbia University on February 2, University of Miami on February 24, University of Texas at Austin on March 3 and the University of California at Los Angeles on May 1, along with many others. The tour will conclude on May 6 at San Francisco State University.
