Elul 23: The Way

by Hillel News |Sep 07, 2015|Comments

First Blast: Text

הוֹרֵנִי ה' דַּרְכֶּךָ

Instruct me, O Lord, in Your way

Second Blast: Commentary

Similarly to this phrase, Proverbs 22:6 suggests, חֲנֹךְ לַנַּעַר, עַל-פִּי דַרְכּוֹ, גַּם כִּי-יַזְקִין, לֹא-יָסוּר מִמֶּנָּה , "Train a youth in the way he should go; He will not swerve from it even in old age." We were each instructed to live in a certain way by our parents and communities, but as we grew older had to find our own paths, seeking out, as does our psalms phrase, the way to live that best accords with our understanding of the world.

Third Blast: Practice

We often fall into routines, traveling to work or school the same way every day. Today, find a way to break routine and try a different way. How did the change feel?

Happy Labor Day!
