Before the Fast

Broccoli.With only a few days left before Yom Kippur, we've put together a guide with the best ways to prepare for the fast. Wishing you an easy fast and a meaningful Yom Kippur!


  • whole grains -- brown rice fiber rich foods -- broccoli fluids -- lots of water -- begin 24 hours beforehand
  • grapes, watermelon
  • carbs over protein -- pasta, potatoes, rice & bread (whole grains preferred)
Don’t eat:
  • chocolate
  • tea
  • cola
  • coffee -- cut caffeine early -- a week before mix with decaf, and don’t have 24 hours before
  • alcohol
  • salty foods -- pickles, cold cuts, cheese, canned fish, smoked fish, chicken soup, brisket
