Awarded bi-annually to a York student specializing in, or interested in, the field of Judaic studies, who wishes to further their studies at an institution of higher learning in Israel.
The applicant's parents must demonstrate financial need. The applicant must have been raised as and consider him/herself to be Jewish, and display leadership qualities in general and Jewish activities. Priority will be given to a student attending a college or university associated with the State University of New York. Applicants must reside in Albany, Schenectady, Troy, Saratoga or Glens Falls and the immediately surrounding area.
Established by Veronique and Hylton Jonas in memory of Veronique's parents who were committed community leaders and supporters of Israel. This scholarship is awarded to a deserving Jewish student enrolled in an institution of higher learning.
For members of Sigma Alpha Mu with Daughters who are in or will be attending college, and working toward a degree in Fall 2025, we offer the William P. Schwartz Scholarships and the Weiss Brothers Scholarship for Daughters of Fratres. The amount of these scholarships varies (range is $500-$1500) and they are based on financial need. In 2025, $4,500 will be awarded.
For high school seniors, male or female, involved with the North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY), B'nai Brith Youth Organization (BBYO) or the United Synagogue Youth (USY) and headed to college in Fall 2025, we offer the the James Alexander NFTY Scholarship ($1000) and the Hanno Mott USY Scholarship ($1000) and the SAM Alumni BBYO Scholarship ($1000).
All applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and will be scored based on academic performance; chapter, campus and community activities and financial need. Applicants for undergraduate scholarships MUST be initiated members of Alpha Epsilon Phi (AEPhi) who are rising juniors, and seniors. These women must be full-time students for the coming year. Graduate applicants must have completed at least one year of graduate studies prior to applying.This scholarship shall be awarded to the undergraduate and graduate applicant scoring the highest among all applicants and shall be in the amount of $1909.
