Apply NowThe Louis E. Rabinowitz Memorial Scholarship honors the legacy of Louis E. Rabinowitz, a dedicated supporter of Hillel and Jewish life. Born in Savannah, Georgia, and a 1960 graduate of The Citadel, Louis played a pivotal role in supporting Hillel at the College of Charleston and the University of South Carolina. This scholarship will be awarded to Jewish students at the University of South Carolina, The Citadel, and Clemson University. Applicants should have a GPA of 2.5 or higher and demonstrate leadership, entrepreneurship, or volunteerism. Prior attendance at Hillel events is not required.
Renewable for up to two three additional school years, in addition to the first year. Not renewable after the fourth school year/payment, or the student’s completion of an undergraduate degree, whichever comes first.

Yes! You can apply to as many scholarships as you are eligible for. Students who are eligible for this scholarship may also be eligible for the Behrman Campus Leadership Award and the Frimer First Generation Student Scholarship
That’s okay! We encourage any and all Jewish students at these campuses who are otherwise eligible to apply. Hillel involvement on campus is not a requirement of this scholarship.
Hillel Scholarship Program Deadlines
- January 9, 2025 — Hillel International scholarship applications open
- March 3, 2025 at 11:59 PM EST — Application deadline
- March–June 2025 — All applicants are reviewed by the Hillel International Scholarship Program committee
- June 2025 — Award recipients are chosen and recipients announced
