Explore Dickinson Hillel
Dickinson College has about 250 Jewish students that represent approximately ten percent of the student body. The Asbell Center is the umbrella organization that hosts student-led organizations/clubs on campus, as well as, a number of educational, cultural, social, and religious programs, lectures, and opportunities for students, administrators, faculty, and the Greater Carlisle community. Dickinson has a vibrant and active student Hillel, with lots of social, cultural, religious and social action activities for Jewish students. Hillel is housed in the Milton B. Asbell Center for Jewish Life, which has both a meat and a dairy kitchen, a lounge and tv room for students, a dining room, a sanctuary, a multi-purpose room, and offices. Hillel sponsors Shabbat followed by dinner every Friday night. Rosh HaShanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Hanukkah and Passover celebrations are offered throughout the year. Some of our most popular events are our Multicultural Seder, (involving diverse groups from across campus) bagel brunches, and smoothie and movie nights. Our services and holiday celebrations always include lots of student participation. Dickinson College has a total of six Jewish student groups under the Asbell Center`s umbrella: Hillel, Asbell Cooking Club, Achim (Jewish Men`s group), Rosh Hodesh (Jewish Women's group), Challah for Hunger, and Dickinsonians for Israel.Undergraduate Enrollment
