Explore Hillel at The George Washington University

At GW Hillel, our mission is to provide the Jewish students of GW the tools they need to lead meaningful, vibrant Jewish lives. GW Hillel proudly serves more than 3,000 Jewish undergraduates and is one of the most active and rapidly growing Jewish campus communities in North America. We offer a wide array of opportunities for Jewish students of all backgrounds and interests to support their Jewish growth, placing innovation, creativity, and meaning at the forefront of our work. We are grateful that in July of 2021, we moved into our new home in the heart of downtown Washington, creating a hub for Jewish life at GW that is vibrant, warm, and welcoming.

Campus Climate for Jewish Students

Kosher Dining

GW Hillel opened a dining facility in our building in January of 2023, in partnership with the university. It is a popular venue for kosher-keepers and non-kosher keepers alike, serving sandwiches and bowls (under the supervision of the OU). There are also two supermarkets within walking distance of campus that carry a limited amount of kosher chicken and kosher cheese.

Options: University meal plan-no extra cost

Religious Services

GW Hillel offers two services each Friday night, a Reform and Conservative option. We also occasionally add in alternative space services to welcome Shabbat including reflection and meditation.
