Explore Middlebury College Hillel
Hillel, the Jewish students` organization on campus, strives to embrace all students` varying religious and communal needs. Approximately 15% of Middlebury`s student body is Jewish, and members of Hillel have included students from all denominations of Judaism. The Middlebury College Jewish Center is the locale of a rich and varied program of lectures, discussions, brunches, and regular Shabbat evening services and dinners, and includes a dairy/vegetarian kitchen. The Middlebury dining halls always have a vegetarian menu but have no kosher meal plan. Middlebury students are the driving force behind their Hillel, creating dynamic and student centered cultural, social and religious programming. This is a warm, welcoming environment where students are constantly learning from each other to deepen their Jewish identities and experience.

Religious Services
Hillel offers a lively, student-led Kabbalat Shabbat service each Friday followed by a home-cooked dinner. We also offer High Holiday services for both days of Rosh Hashanah (day one on campus and day two in town at the local Havurah) and Yom Kippur (on campus), all led by our campus rabbi and visiting cantor. Services are egalitarian and pluralistic, drawing from a range of tunes and liturgies, using Hebrew and English. Hillel holds Passover seders and celebrates all Jewish holidays in session.
