Explore Wake Forest University Hillel

Hillel is the Jewish Student Organization for Wake Forest University (WFU). WFU Hillel (the Rosenblatt Family Hillel) is here to serve the social, cultural and religious needs of the Jewish students at WFU and to improve the understanding of Jewish culture and Judaism among the students, faculty, and staff of the university. And we like to have fun. The Jewish student population and percentage continues to grow - there are 400 self-identified UG Jewish student which is about 7% of the undergraduate population. We have an Associate Chaplain for Jewish Life, who is also the Hillel Director, and an Israel Fellow. We have a Hillel Lounge (a great place to hang out and where we have many of our events) and Hillel kitchen (for cooking Shabbat dinners and other fun culinary events). We provide pastoral leadership to Jewish students, staff, and faculty including opportunities for worship, prayer, mentoring, and counseling. Programming includes social gatherings, such as bagel brunches or pizza socials, holiday & Shabbat dinners, On-Campus High Holiday Services, Sukkot meals, Shabbat programs for Homecoming and Parents weekend, Prospective Jewish Student weekend/Shabbaton, Judaism 101 courses, Passover Seders, Purim events, Israel-Fest, Israel-Birthright trips, and guest speakers. Hillel is also actively engaged in interfaith programming. Academically, WFU has an interdisciplinary Jewish Studies minor. On the graduate level, WFU offers Law, Business, and Medical students the opportunity to attend Jewish affinity groups, Hillel functions, and Jewish Life Events. Our Jewish students are involved actively in Greek life, including the Jewish fraternity AEPi. Wake Forest University is an NCAA Division 1 school, and there are several Hillel members who play in Varsity and club sports.
