Members of the Hillel International Student Cabinet represent a cross-section of campus experiences, Jewish backgrounds, geography, and academic interests. Each year, they’re led by a talented set of student co-chairs, with support from Hillel International staff. The Cabinet is committed to representing student needs, connecting campus communities, and providing counsel to Hillel leadership.
850 campuses and 140,000 students around the world
Hillel has given me a home on campus and a global community of Jewish students that I can call family. As co-chair, I am excited to bring this feeling to more Jewish students around the world in order to provide the best campus experience possible.Jessica Yeroshalmi, Student Cabinet Co-Chair, Baruch College ’23
Four Pillars of Success
Student Cabinet members participate in bi-annual summits in Washington, DC. and monthly video conference calls via Zoom. Between meetings, they move forward in four ways:
The Cabinet develops and executes initiatives that empower student leaders on campus. Key recent projects have included convening a leadership cohort of Hillel presidents, maintaining a Slack workspace for Jewish student leaders around the world to connect, and building a program bank for students to build on the successes of others.
It’s important for student voices to drive everything we do. Whether consulting on daily programming or global issues that impact college students, the Cabinet offers vital perspective on key decisions, ensuring the student voice is always front-and-center.
Cabinet members work in tandem with Hillel professionals to represent and advocate for the interests of students, provide input on Hillel policies, advise on matters that affect the Hillel movement, and implement student-facing national projects.
Cabinet members serve alongside members of the Hillel International Board of Directors to provide insight on task forces concerning racial justice, finance, governance, public statements, and many other matters.
