On Tuesday, June 8, Hillel Poland celebrated its 5th anniversary with a virtual luncheon and celebration to recognize the impact Hillel Poland has made on Jewish students and young adults, reclaiming Jewish life in a region once decimated by the Holocaust.

Two extraordinary women lead Hillel Poland: Marcjanna Kubala, Executive Director of Hillel Krakov, and Magda Dorosz, Executive Director of Hillel Warszawa. Hillel Poland is a “home away from home” and a safe space for young Polish Jews to find a sense of belonging and connect with their Jewish identity.

Hillel International President and CEO Adam Lehman opened the luncheon with remarks about the significance of Hillel Poland’s trajectory and the remarkable work they’ve done over the last five years, including during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Hillel Poland also plays a critical role in cultivating the next generation of Jewish leaders in Poland,” Lehman said. “Today’s participants in Hillel Warsaw and Hillel Krakow will be tomorrow’s Jewish community leaders, ensuring a flourishing Jewish future in Poland; and a more just, moral, and inclusive world inspired by Jewish values.”

Lehman also lauded Hillel Poland for meeting the moment when the Covid-19 pandemic hit Europe, with  meaningful online and safe in-person programs that continue to enable a resurgent and vibrant Jewish future in Poland.”

This summer, the entire Hillel movement is cheering Hillel Poland on as they celebrate five years of growth, innovation, and fun. Check out highlights from the virtual celebration below:
