The Robert and Beverly Natelson Family Award is a $3000 scholarship given to the best undergraduate or graduate student in the area of Jewish Studies. Criteria for selection will be a combination of merit and need.
The Andy Bachman Support Fund for Jews and Social Justice is awarded to a student (with preference given to an undergraduate) pursuing any academic project, work, or research with a connection to the study of Jewish identity and its relationship to social justice issues.
The essay used for these awards should be a substantial paper (minimum of ten pages) on a Jewish studies topic.
Through the Charles and Gayle Mazursky Student Support Fund, the Center for Jewish Studies is able to offer a number of grants for research-related travel, including travel to resources (e.g., archives, oral history interviews, etc.), other venues essential for carrying out work on an undergraduate or graduate thesis, or travel to professional conferences.
This competition is open to refugees and asylees who were assisted by the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society to come to the U.S. Undergraduate and graduate students may apply for a $2000 award towards educational expenses. Applicants will be judged in three areas: academic scholarship, financial need and Jewish communal involvement.
For a limited time, scholarships are available to students studying Jewish Studies abroad. Students wishing to apply for general scholarships should submit a resume and personal statement (500 words or less) to [email protected].
Some scholarships to study Jewish Studies abroad were donated by KU alum, Mr. Harvey Bodker in honor of the memory of Rabbi Morris Margolies, senior rabbi at Congregation Beth Shalom and longtime professor of Jewish Studies at KU.
Scholarships are open to full-time University of Oklahoma undergraduate and graduate students for semester-long study abroad programs in Israel. Priority is given to graduate students concentrating in Jewish History and undergraduate students who have declared a major or a minor in Judaic Studies or a minor in Hebrew.
