Rachel Feldman, Bowling Green State University Hillel’s Jewish culture chair, discovered that most Jewish students on campus did not have mezuzahs for their dorm rooms, so she hosted “Make Your Own Mezuzah” on Oct. 17.

Feldman kicked off the program with a short history of mezuzahs and explained how and where to place them.

Students then made their own, personal mezuzahs out of Crayola air dry clay, waited a few days for their pieces dry, and then returned to paint them.

Feldman said the event provided students with “a creative outlet to make the tradition their own.”
