Two Line Torah: 5776 Tzav–Burning Out
Parashat Tzav is on fire–quite literally! G-d tells Moses to command Aaron and his sons about the laws of the burnt offerings and kindling the eternal fire.
“A continuous fire shall burn upon the altar; it shall not go out.” (Leviticus 6:6)
Passion and motivation can burn out over time. But wisdom and learning from each other burns like the eternal flame, the ner tamid. Hillel, our jobs, our friendships, and our hobbies all provide us with the opportunity to feed our fire and discover what we all have to offer.
Judaism values wisdom and teaching so deeply because it can ignite this fire in others and inspire us all. Let us continue to kindle our own ner tamid, whether it’s by escaping for a few minutes, stimulating conversations, or reading these Two Line Torah emails every week!
