FreshFest is where friends are made

Jacob Abtahi didn’t know anybody when he got to Tucson. So when the fall semester started, the University of Arizona freshman headed over to Hillel’s Welcome Week.

Surviving your first year

I ended up finding my place in the Jewish community and put most of my time into Hillel because that’s where my friends were and where I could truly grow as a leader and become my truest self.

The show goes on

I managed to maneuver most of my adolescence without falling into a depression, being mad at my parents or breaking the rules. I had the support of my incredible family, good connections with my teachers and some of the best friends anyone could ask for. I arrived at Columbia University in 2016 — totally alone.
